Welcome to Christ Church C of E Primary School
History
Christ Church School has been serving the Clifton and Bristol community since 1852 when it originated as a separate Boys and Girls school in what is now the Clifton Library.
Over the decades the school grew and in 1967 it needed to move to larger premises. After much debate on a suitable site, a new ‘state of the art’ school was built in the square of Royal Park.
The school continued to expand until in 2014, it was substantially extended and refurbished to accommodate the 2 forms of entry per year group that we provide today.
Location and Facilities
We are proud of the facilities that Christ Church School can offer - modern classrooms, 2 halls for PE/ Drama/ Dining, practical room for Art/ Pottery/ DT, food tech room for cooking, 2 ICT suites, music room, learning resource centre as well as an attractive playground and games court set within the tall trees of Clifton.
The location of Christ Church School within the heart of Clifton enables our children to benefit from a rich and diverse curriculum where we can easily access many cultural and sporting facilities within walking distance of the school. It is a common occurrence to see a smartly dressed, excited ‘crocodile’ of Christ Church children walking into Clifton Village, Christ Church, Bristol Museum, the Suspension Bridge, the Downs, the University swimming pool, Redgrave Theatre and many more wonderful venues in the local community.
Parents/Carers
We value a strong partnership with our parents/carers and therefore provide opportunities for our parents/carers to get involved with the life of our school.
Teachers provide a termly newsletter with information about the content of the curriculum to be covered with ideas to support and enrich learning at home.
We invite parents/carers into school to join assemblies and the results of workshops.
We welcome parents/carers to share their skills to widen the children’s experiences and to provide role models that our children can aspire to.
We welcome support to facilitate trips and activities.
Curriculum leaders run workshops to share our teaching strategies to support learning at home.
We use Szapp an app for our school community to support with information sharing and communication.
PTA
We have a very proactive Parent Teacher Association who organise events for our children and parents/carers with the aim of providing both social and fundraising events for our school community. Annually the PTA provide significant additional funds that benefit the children of our school
